Stage 1 Utrecht - Utrecht
During the first stage, the cyclists would have raced through the streets of the Dom city (Utrecht) during the team time trial.
The teams would have started at the Jaarbeurs and then cycle east through the city center. After the technical first part of this course, they would have raced along the Singel over the Maliebaan, the oldest bicycle lane in the Netherlands. The route should have went at full speed to Overvecht, where the teams would have made a loop towards Leidsche Rijn. This should have been the spot for spectators to see the cycling heroes pass by twice. After leaving the new Leidsche Rijn Center, the teams would have headed for the finish. From the fly-over a real team sprint would have taken place until they cross the line at the Jaarbeursplein. In total, the team time trial was 23.7 kilometers long.
