Due to the rapidly changing situation around the coronavirus (Covid-19), La Vuelta Holanda's project organization receives many questions. At this moment there are no changes in our program for the cycling race itself, in August. After all, it is difficult to predict what the situation will be like during that period.
However, the organisation of La Vuelta Holanda has decided to postpone the kick-off of the side events programme, scheduled for the 29th of April. The situation regarding the coronavirus is so uncertain that organising a public event on that date is currently unrealistic. Rob van Doggenaar, manager of the side events programme of La Vuelta Holanda: "We are very disappointed about this of course, but realise that everyone's health is much more important at the moment.
On Wednesday the 29th of April, the start of the side events programme would be celebrated with a major event in the provinces of Utrecht and Noord-Brabant and the cities of Breda, Utrecht and 's-Hertogenbosch. Van Doggenaar: "We hope to be able to organize this event at a later date. This depends on the developments surrounding the coronavirus of course."
The coronavirus has now also had an impact on the organisers of La Vuelta Holanda's side events programme. This side events programme consists of more than 200 events, organized by about 140 organizers, spread in the provinces of Noord-Brabant and Utrecht. The vast majority are public events, from April to August. Some organisers have already had to put their event on hold. The organisation of La Vuelta Holanda will do everything it can to help them and look for other possible dates together.
